Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to update healthcare professionals’ clinical knowledge of patients with HIV/AIDS and to meet Florida state relicensure requirements for healthcare professionals. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
- Describe the effect of ART (antiretroviral therapy), including HAART (highly active antiretroviral therapy), on mortality, morbidities, and prevalence of HIV/AIDS
- Identify major infection control measures for HIV
- Identify Florida-specific legislation about HIV testing, confidentiality and access to medical care
