Position Summary:
1. Assesses and evaluates new patients at intake into program.
2. Performs goal setting during the initial assessment and throughout the program, and participates in discharge planning.
3. Assists in determining progression of therapy program.
4. Conducts therapy session in a safe professional manner.
5. Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
6. Provides patient and family education in appropriate areas.
7. Provides direction to those assisting/learning the therapy role; i.e., new employees, students.
8. Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job related hazards.
9. Follows the GHS Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
10. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
11. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team intra- and interdepartmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
12. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities necessary.
13. Maintains accurate and legible, records, documenting clinical notes in patient’s charts.

Education/Experience:
Required:
Baccalaureate or higher degree in occupational therapy 
Knowledge and experience in Occupational Therapy assessments· 
Knowledge and experience in Occupational Therapy interventions
Preferred:
Experience in a variety of arenas
Experience with a variety of patient populations

Licenses/Certifications:
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) 
Current Texas License
